The developers didn't have a creative difference- I was and still am the sole developer of the project.

As you can see above- he typed here and we spoke on Skype and I blocked him before he got involved with the project.

There was a website for Vanavale a while back, but when life got hectic I let it drop for a while. I've decided not to actually have a website at first and just advertise a little on the forums that I frequent. Though I do have the files for a custom website sitting around somewhere.

I appreciate your comments and I'm certainly not giving up on either ORPG. The programmer I'm speaking to right now has assured me his engine is more than capable of meeting the requirements I need to develop Godwind.

Cheers,

Kemono

This is listed as public domain, CC0- you can literally do whatever you want with it.

@Sabahgamemak

It's not dead, it's just shelved for now- I had some difficulty with the engine side of things and me and Hydroque didn't quite get along since he wanted to make a single player RPG and I wanted to make an online RPG. So somehow we got into a heated discussion on Skype and put bluntly he was very rude to me which resulted in my blocking him.

I kept putting it off because I kept hearing from various people about how their 2D ORPG engines were coming along and then they never released them or abandoned them.

Even now I'm talking to (literally at this moment) a guy who says he'll have an alpha ready for the weekend.

Godwind is the game I've always wanted to make. Every developer has a game with accompanying ideas and it's their dream game. For me Godwind is that. It will take as long as it takes, but I'll get it done.

In the meantime I've been working on and off in my spare time on a game called Vanavale which is an Online RPG featuring thirst, hunger and an expansive world. DawnHack's 16 bit colours and the base 16x16 tileset that I found on this website. I have added many new tiles to this set, along with new creatures and have created a paperdoll of equippable items.

These are a few gifs I've taken whilst messing with things. They mostly show the animated layering system I have in my in-game editor. They also show off a few different pieces of gear that are in the game.

Thanks for worrying about Godwind- don't worry, one day you'll get to play it. Until then I hope you look forward to Vanavale.

Cheers,

Kemono

PS. I've decided to upload a bunch of stuff I found lying around from a few years ago.

Amazing, reminds me of Dark Cloud until the strings come in.

why are these tiles only 16x? they feel like they should be 16x tiles each, are they meant to be used 8x8?

I am super confused.

Also - I had another version of this dow nloaded, I deleted then redownloaded and it's a completely different version with less tiles, what's the deal?

@Surt

Designing games isn't my full time occupation. Nor should it be for anyone who wanders around websites like this looking for FREE, OPEN materials.

I don't plan on selling my game, but instead opening up and letting people play for free. I may incorporate something like an item store purely for hour long boosts and holiday items - though I'd definitely limit how much of a boost you could buy and I'm strongly against character binding so I'd expect people with money to buy boosts and limited holiday items and sell them for in-game gold to people without money. It happens alot in GW2.

I do however plan on having a starter kit to allow people to boost forward about 3 levels (not actual levels, just a 1.5 tier limited weapon and a 1.5 tier set of armour) when they start the game - a pretty insignificant thing in the long run and for 50p I should hope so. Though I'll be using the gear levelling system in my game, I plan to make the 1.5 tier gear turn into something sweet if you reach a certain level as an extra little "thank you" for supporting the game - this won't affect people who don't buy it, again it will be tradable, thus rewarding players who invest the time into earning in-game gold to trade for the gear, again supporting the game.

Surt, I think you may have seriously misjudged the type of person I am, that's a shame - I'm not quite sure what this rampant arrogance is amongst pixel artists these days, I hope I don't come off as such to others.

Anyway - I'm sorry but the only place that $70 a minute is acceptable is in a recording studio where you spend an afternoon remixing and mastering some shitty band. Music creation doesn't take nearly as long as you seem to think it does. You're essentially saying $70 for less than an hour's work (aka a minute of audio) is perfectly fine, when it's not.

I'm done replying, that's my opinion. You guys can say whatever you want, but I'm telling you your opinions are meaningless to me if you think this is okay when there are Teachers and Doctors who earn less for actually doing work.

Peace-

@pennomi

Thanks man, that's great!

I knew what .svg was and I keep meaning to learn how to vector but I thought without a drawing tablet was pointless.

Thanks again for the clouds and the swirl corrections!

Hi there! I'd like to use these to scroll along the menu of my project - http://www.godwindorpg.blogspot.com - I don't know how to use .svg, is there any way you could use photoshop smart layers?

One other tiny request, would you be able to curve the swirls a bit more on the dark blue preview clouds? They're a tad rectangular, if you could I'd very much appreciate it.
