As noted in the IRC, at least for 3D models, it would be cool to standarize a bit more information on the submisson, for example "face count", "vertex count", "rigged", "animation count", "texture count", ... And then to be able to filter the view by those propreties, for example being able to search for:
3d models "plant", poly count < 1000
That being said, the search needs a lot more features than the current one, but you know that already :)
ZapZap: use gimp to scale them down ;) I think it's great he provides us the high resolution ones.

Maybe it is because people are allowed to upload zipped archives? But well, sourceforge.net is listed "green" on their site, so that shouldn't be it.
