Ooooh.  I'm an art person, I don't understand the programming, but I do understand that it's pretty cool.  Can you alter the tree generation to get them to clump together the way real trees tend to do?

I saw the update on itch.io first.  That's awesome!  I'm glad you're still working on this, I love this tool.

Wow, what an impressive restriction.  I honestly don't think you're going to find someone like that, it's like asking for someone who creates paintings for a living but doesn't show work at a gallery.  Or an accountaint who isn't willing to work for a business.  Making art for games is just how pixel artists make money.  I suppose it's possible to have someone who has found a way to make pixel art for a living without making anything for video games, but it's a niché inside a niché.  You are narrowing your chances even further by asking for this type of person at Open Game Art.

Here's my favorite pixel art article.  I also like the Retronator Magazine, which seems to be more along the lines of what you're looking for.  It should also help you find those pixel artists who focus more on non-game pieces.

Good luck on your paper!

I can help with some of that.  Here's my favorite place to look at game maps: http://www.vgmaps.com/  My friend does mapping commissions.  Normally RPG Maker based, but I'm sure she could switch over to TileD if asked.  Here's her commission thread: https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/indrahs-mapping-worksho...

I think starting with a temporary map is a great idea.  Getting your minimum viable product working before worrying about the details is always a good idea.

No, there's no demo maps.  The screenshots were me just throwing something together for the shot, they're not functional in any way.  Mapping isn't too hard, you probably just need practice.  Focus on placing what you need first, remember what the map is for at all times, make sure you can move around easily, and let there be some places with nothing in it to contrast with the clusters full of stuff, and you'll do just fine.  When in doubt, look at a bunch of references of existing maps that you think are good, and use them for inspiration.  Maybe recreate them as practice if you still feel stuck (but don't use).  You can get feedback on mapping too, just like getting artwork critiqued.  But most importantly, don't worry about it too much.  No one pays that much attention to mapping unless it's making things obviously awful for a player, and you'll learn more from doing and failing than avoiding and succeeding.

I consider myself quite bad at mapping too.

I like the wording of "possible", it's more "Um, this looks iffy" than "This is STOLEN!!1!" and makes people more inclined to say something than recognize a problem and hope it's not really true or that someone else with more knowledge will randomly look at it.  I have a "flag licensing issue" on mine, but I have higher access than most, and clicking it will automatically de-list the upload.  I feel I have to be certain of there being a problem even if it gets reviewed.  There's also no way for me to imput why I think it should be delisted, so the reviewer just has to guess unless I leave a "This is STOLEN!!!1!" comment.  It's not ideal.  I wasn't aware that there wasn't a way to report possible problems for normal members.

I was under the impression that it has to pass in two more places before it could go into effect anyway.

There are times when things are attributed to you as an author, but since they weren't uploaded by you, they don't show up as one of your submissions and aren't linked anywhere in your profile.  I would really, really like for that to change so that when looking at someone's profile you can see all their work.  For example, some of my art was uploaded by William.Thompsonj, and I'm a co-contributor to an RPG Enemies collection by Redshrike, but none of those show up anywhere when you click on my name.

Thank you!

There's a dragonbones plugin for RPG Maker MV so it's been getting some attention there.
