Alright, I've had a heck of a time getting something that should be simple, work.
So, for the longest time I was using a fixed resolution "system" in myt game, where it would always run @ 768 x 432 (it seemed to scale well into 16:9 resolutions). Recently I've been toying around with a dynamic system (and I'm not even sure if I'm going to keep it, as it's caused so many issues for me). Where the game will scale to 4:3, 16:9 or 16:10 and effectively switch resolutions based on the resolution of the monitor it's running on.
So, for the longest time my game has used a blur setting, for Gamemaker Studio it's called "interpolate colors between pixels" and does just that, it sort of smudges things over and generally makes a pixelated game seem smoother on larger displays. At least I think that's what it's for.
So, I've been working on a platformer for a long while now. I hjave a few levels, but I've been having issues designing scrolling backgrounds for them that just seem to fit. If I posted some examples screenshots of some levels, would it be possible to get reccomendations from users on what I should put?
Hello, I hate to steal thunder from the other guy who is offering free 2D art (and is the maker of my avatar at the time of writing, check him out if you like the style BTW, link here: http://opengameart.org/forumtopic/request-a-free-custom-made-character#c...), but I've been wanting to possibly do commissions on the side and I want to build up a portfolio. So if you want some vector art done for free, I'm your man until I deem my portfolio "meh, good enough"!
Hi all! I am browsing opengameart for a long time and I really enjoy it, some artwork are trully amazing! and the community is nice. I am trying to make my own little game since a while and today I would like to share my WIP sprites and ideas to get opinions and feebacks.
(Please note that I am not an artist - nor a programmer ^^).
hello, after making my 2d drawing i have left, right, front and back versions of it. Something about the colors does not sit right with me. (even though it is suppose to be the water varient of what i am making thus the blue) I guess what i am trying to say is how to get the colors more vibrant or cartoony or i cant explain the look i want just feels like it needs something before moving to the animating stage, advice on what it needs please.
