Hi! I'm Sterling. I found out about OGA on the main page of blender.org (they had a link to Blnder Nation.) I'm an up and coming game-dev and musician. I do 3D and 2D art, music, animation, and programming.
I enjoy watching Sci-Fi shows like Stargate, Eureka, etc. The music that I make is in the style of vintage arcade games(8Bit). As for 3D work, i can do low-polly and high-polly(sort of) and for 2D, I can do pixel art, textures, and other stuff.
Well that's all I can think of right now so... Hello, and i hope to see and post lots of cool stuff here. XP
Hi - just seen opengameart.org today - sounds like a great idea. I think I'd like to contribute, but I'm not really sure what would be useful for gamers. I'm looking for what would be good in a general sense that might be reusable over different projects. I don't really want to get involved in a specific project as that would involve commitment - I just want to do this for fun.
Some stuff that I enjoy:
2d artwork - I'd enjoy detailed/stuff, cover art, storyboards, concept art, mattes rather than low-pixel stuff
The game 0A.D. has been released to the public, they have set up a trac and licensed all art as CC-BY-SA. I think that might be interesting to you, as they have really nice art (Don't know about the music).
I want to know what the benefits of anonymous comments are, as I don't see anything obvious atm. I rather irritates me when not knowing who wrote comments (especially if it is more than looking good). Also it is not clear if it was the same anonymous person or many different ones.
Does anyone of you use it or see some cases they might be very good for?
Most if not all models here are in blender format so I hope you can give me some hints: I'm working with a game engine that imports models in Collada format. I ported my models using Softimage ModTool with very good results.
What's the best way to convert a blender model into the Collada format? I had some problems with normals and lost faces in my previous approaches.

Hi, I'm Arthur from the FreeGameDev forum (which is down at the moment, sadly). I'm also somewhat involved in the SuperTuxKart project.
Though I'm mainly a musician (and not too skilled on making game music), I decided to share some of my self-made sound effects. I'm not sure if some of the other effects I have lying around would be useful, but I think I've submitted the most interesting ones.
Again, this one is on Remaxim's initiative. I'll let him do the talking on this one, but we both agree that the favorite system could stand some improvements.
Sorry for snatching the first post on this one Remaxim, but I was on a roll after the Art pack thread ;)
Remaxim brought up the old art pack thread on IRC and came with some ideas and suggestions. Together, we came up with a system we considered rather elegant, if still not fully thought out. This is my interpretation of our conversation, and I'm putting it here so that I/we don't forget it.
I thought it would be great to have some argumentation to rely on when trying to advertise Opengameart.org in some forum or game project. I guess many of you have different points of view on the site and many different reason why you like, use and contribute to opengameart.org. In this thread I would like to try to collect them to get good arguments for the next discussion as well as understanding why this site is important to you.
