I've heard this descirbed as an 80's scifi theme, if you want something like this, I might be able to help. But you seem to want some pretty good people judging from the original post, and I don't know if you consider me to be that.
EDIT: Just to clarify, I think it's interesting with a quirky plot and it would probably be interesting to learn the story of why society became like this.
But for a commercial game I think a plot like this might only appeal to a niche market.
