This is why I_think making a pure clone is a bit sad and opens to many potential issues including the project being shutdown.

So many open source project aspire to be only clones of popular games. I think we should aim at creating our own universe, Open Valley is a very cool idea and to be honest even partially inspired me for my own game but I always try to make everything original.

Not only changing the names and stuff but also the maps, the locations, the tileset, the story even exploring a different gameplay.

If you need inspiration you could do research and documentation about farming and try to come up with a unique place.

You can even take a map from OpenGameArt and modify it to make it fit your theme and put your own location.

If you would like I_can create you an overworld map quickly to give you inspiration with unique location (and you are free to adapt them).

I think it does not look bad, you are a bit harsh with yourself. There are definitly things I could see improved but It's a very impressive start.

to help me guide my answer could you let us know which game engine are you using? But in general I would say look for ambiant lighting based on the sky (IBL etc). This is a way to modulate the ambiant light with the sky texture and it makes everything looks amazing.

The water looks horrible especially the waterfall, you should spend some time to improve it or at least add some particles to make it more interesting.

Some assets like the haystack are weirdly blocky. They do not fit with the rest of your style.

There has been a few improvements :). Mainly there is now a prototype of the player house and there is also a time cycle (with minutes, hours, days). I also rewrote completely the script to manage interactive objects (items, doors, etc) to be more robust.

Now player data is persistent when moving from one level to the other.

To answer a few questions:

You cut the skill tree in purpose? We want to see more! :p

This is on purpose to cut down the amount of features. I would rather have something playable than to many ideas that go nowhere. If I_implement the skill tree shown I can then think about the future :)

I am curious, what information do you use to create the shadows for trees?

This is so far vanilla Godot with some custom shaders and scripts.

I remember seeing this article about some of the tricks used in Graveyard Keeper

The technique used in Encyclopedia Hortica Botanica is similar :).

I'd echo pvigier's suggestion to post the code! All the better to get feedback and participation.

I am preparing the code to be released. There is a few things to clean up, It would be helpful if another programmer can help me since doing all the design decision alone is hard.

Speaking of backups. Is there a public backup or a way to restart the site in case something would go wrong?

Recently the website was down and this is usually when one realize how important OGA is :p.

Very cool project. How can you launch it? Is there a way to test it?

Hi and thanks for your comments.

Yes canico you can use them in a not tux racer game ;). It's specified on the license (Creative commons).

However if you want to use them for SuperTuxKart you should read our documentation because they are already included in SuperTuxKart, so you don't have to download from here.

Okay so people seems to be interested

I have written a Random Room Generator as a basic level generation system. I can't promise much but I will try to get something fun (even if it's very basic).

Do we have a pixel art version of Sara that would be avaliable for plateformer ? Since we are on OpenGameArt a plateformer with OGA's mascot would be interesting, as a hero or as a NPC.
