quite frankly i think editor icons are fine as is. "consistent looknfeel" is less important than "game making tool that actually makes games" at this point.
i just downloaded the binary right before i reported what happened, so it was newest.
here is a screengrab of what happens after creating new project, with cmd running editor in /v
it creates folder, extracts credits.txt and tnge closes. if i manually extract rest of lpc folder into the created project folder, i can open it and edit it, but new project only creates folder with credits.txt
@bzt "Thank you, I'll probably do that. Or maybe I'll just go with a symbol-less version (I never intended to suggest this is a Playstation-only engine, and I don't want to suggest it is Xbox-only either, so probably the symbol-less will be the best)."
problem with symbol-less is how will anyone know what buttons are what? i imagine you wrote / intend to write your own gamepad parsing code. i am only familiar with how sdl lib does it, but i believe the actual identifiers for buttons are "povhat n e s w" for dpad and "1 2 3 4" for the face buttons in a backwards z shape starting from the south face buttons. that might be a good compromise? i dunno. i understand that ppl making games with tirnanaog will put whatever they want there, but i would think the vast majority of them will want to use the abxy setup, as it is most used on pc.
i haven't really dove into tirnanog much, as i can't testrun anything i make with it. seems like trying to make something with it right now feels like an intellectual excercise than actually making something. i guess because my brain can't "see" what is made. it is something i am keeping an eye on though.
also this: i was unable to create a new project using the lpc package using the editor. it created the folder and teh credits files in my /user/myname/tirnanog folder but nothing else was extracted to that folder by tirnanog, and it did not recognize folder to open file. when i manually extracted archives content to same folder, i was able to open project and fiddle with it. win11.
how about some sort of community support forum for tirnanog in the future?
@bzt are you aware that the TirNanog Player page 404s? https://bztsrc.gitlab.io/tirnanog-player is the link on your page. i am playing around with the editor but can't playtest without the player.
edit: nevermind, i see from your other forum post that it's not ready yet.
well for pc gamers who use gamepads (like me) i would safely say the xbox button layout is most common. it used by the majority of third party "generic" pc gamepads that i have seen / bought / blew out the left stick and had to buy again. green A red B blue X yellow Y. afaik there is no issue with us trademarks either.
i would say switch to those buttons from the same xelu prompt pack and you are probably golden.
totally agree that music is not pointless, i didn't understand that statement, just didn't want to remark on it. i spose if its irony, then both revenge and music are not pointless, but rather pointed. or do you just not like music?
and i am also disabled, only i haven't got ssi yet. so i am living on $0 a month is my childhood bedroom. i get it dude. i have all sort of mental health problems, including anxiety, depression, etc etc. and on top of that i have a broken spine. my doctor's orders are "no stretching, no bending, no prolonged sitting, standing, walking, no lifting more than 10 pounds." what kind of job am i supposed to get?
i am sorry if i came off as inconsiderate. but it's just like i said, good luck at getting someone else to love your labor of love. noone is gonna make assets for rynosaur land or any of my other projects for me. would i like to have pro artwork and have it be commercially viable? of course. do i have the funding to hire artists to make pro assets? no, of course not. so i hack together art from OGA to make it into something new. i have made shit that is almost unrecognizable as a derivative, unless you compare sprite to sprite and zoom in to analyze animation patterns and proportions. and i am no natural artist. i wanted to do something so i did it. and i have to take a break every hour or 2 to lay down so my back can decompress or the pain makes me want to kill myself.
life sucks for alot of us, i wasn't and am not trying to be a jerk. my style is caustic, that's just me. i honestly wished you good luck at getting someone to love your labor of love. i still wish you good luck. it wasn't meant as sarcasm.
as far as "you want free stuff" that is plain english. you want something that doesn't cost you anything because you can't afford to pay for it. i get it, i am in the same boat. i offered you a viable alternative based on my exact experience with being your shoes like, literally the same shoes: disability, no money, creative drive to make something you give a crap about. good luck at getting someone else to give a crap about it as much as you do. i know that sounds like sarcasm but it's not. that's just how i speak. i mean in all sincerity. good luck!
and with this binary which was not on your website but found through gitlab, with verbose

i'll think of another one with a theme or something
