Right now I am debating between two styles of a tile. Could anyone tell me which they prefer? The left or right. I have many different have grass tops to break the tile look up, but I need to decide which style looks better :)
I'm trying to get a sense weather it would be more or less confusing to edit that item and add the new content, or make a new art "item" for the new textures.
I submitted some vector graphics under GPL license (here for example). Some people would like to use them in commercial games. I have no problem with that, and I will be glad my work can be useful. But, regarding their comments, it seems: "the GPL requires that if you use any GPL assets in your project, the entire project must be released under the same license". That was not my point.
I'am a programmer and I would very much like recreate some of the old classics like Ugh!, bumpy or cool crocs. What I would like to know is there any one interested in participating in that kind of a project?
I made this a couple years ago, and it turned out I was taking on a pixel art project that was a bit out of my league. That being said, it's not terrible or anything, so maybe somebody can do something with it:
I'd like to start working on adding some more textures, but I need some info from folks (particularly 3D artists) who are actually looking to use those textures. At the moment, OGA is way short of cgtextures in terms of the amount of content we have available, but I think we have an opportunity to expand if we work at it.
Any advice/tips/books/videos re how to learn some techniques/approaches for creating some 2D game art. In particular 2D drawings that could be used as backgrounds for example in a simple adventure game.
I imagine people have noticed some of the changes that have happened recently, the most publicized of which being the new texture archive format. A couple other things include a wide browsing mode (make your browser 1280+ pixels wide on the main page to see it) and the ability to hide certain blocks from view in your user profile.
This has inspired some discussion in the chat channel recently about other possibilities for changes and additions, and I wanted to ask people on the forum what people would like to see in the future as well, with a few caveats:
I came across a great piece of CC0-licensed art recently that I would like to use in an entirely-GPL project. As I understand it, CC0 allows relicensing, which means I could relicense the CC0 content as GPL without a problem, I believe. However, I'm not the best with licenses, and I can't seem to find anything in CC0 that explicity states that relicensing is allowed (although several areas of the legalese seem to imply that such a thing is possible and permissable), so I thought I'd ask for some opinions from others here before going ahead.
