I believe that the users of this forum might be interest in this. I am hosting a pixel sprite animation contest with cash prizes. Full contest details at the link below.
But since I was thinking about it, I wanted to know:
I've been trying to contact Len and killyOverdrive in a more private way, using the contact form of their profile page. But I still didn't have any answers from them.
Since I know at least killyoverdrive has been active since then, I wanted to know whether it was killy which didn't want or hasn't got the time to. (which is fine, I'm forcing no one to answer ;]) or whether the contact form had a problem.
I'm currently seeking volunteers to help with features and bugfixes to the OGA codebase. You'll need a working knowledge of PHP (or at the very least, a solid understanding of coding in general and a willingness to figure it out on your own), and an understanding of Drupal is a big plus (although I understand that's a rare skill set).
Reply here if you're interested.
FAQ
Q.Why isn't the OGA codebase currently open source?
Hey, it would be good to etablish some submission guidelines in order to keep the usefulness of the single entries high. Let me know about any suggestions.
Basic 2D:
Format for 2D submissions should be PNG with alpha channel, JPG is good too for high resolution graphics without transparency.
PNG is a very common free format which provides very good lossless compression. Big pictures can get quite a file size for it, so for backgrounds the more effective but not lossless format JPG might be better suited.
I'm looking for FOSS games which use allegro 5. I did come to know of a game or two which was done in the recent LPC contest which used the new allegro 5 library but forgot the name.
If anybody knows of any FOSS games which use the allegro 5 engine please put it in the thread.
Just looking for feedback mostly! I have kind of big plans for the game unless people tell me it sucks. If anyone would be interested in writing story or creating artwork for the game, just let me know.
