Right, almost always it will fall into fair use category unless you are making a good profit. But there are also zealous companies which would harrass you even if you are making little or no profit.
No one is totally right or totally wrong here.
Putting all the effort into creating something original would be better than creating fan work. Before reading the thread I thought it would be about how you could get haters from the fanbase if you created a non satisfactory fan work.
@Mold: I haven't heard anything about restricting art submittd on the artists behalf. Everyone's allowed to do that still. It is a known bug, but it seems to be considered lower priority and high effort to fix. I'd advise making the author clearly known in the attribution instructions and, when possible, add the author as a collaborator.
You could have
Someone also posted a spreadsheet file http://opengameart.org/content/asset-credit-resource-list
Sadly, there is no tag in the file. "Chiptune" might be a good starting point.

Also, it is "you're" not "your" (not) seriously
scite codeblocks git love2d
If it is an art submission, zip files are supported. You can place your .kra file in a zip file and submit.
Otherwise I don't know. I am not sure if they can add .kra support in a near future
EDIT: ok, it seems like adding ".blend" at the end of the filename works. Then you have to remove ".blend" after the download

If the software was open source, they could put it to github and people could submit fixes. This only leaves code review to the admins.
But I guess it is not possible for some reason
Make millions without moving a hand from others' work.
Whenever someone asks for the source of the GPL asset and anything that you created using the GPL asset, you have to provide them
If you used the GPL asset unmodified, you can point them to the OGA page.
If it is modified you have to make the modified version accessible.
If you used it to create other assets, you need to make those available too
If you can prove that you created the asset before its artist created it and released under CC-0.
You can always copyright the version used in your game though, So no one can use that version. But they can still use the CC-0 version.
Thus if you want full control of something either create it yourself or pay someone to create it under your terms.
It is foolish to claim something that belongs to or freely accessible by everyone
