Hmm indeed. There appears to be a tool called "MIDI2dmf" which will allow me to do such a conversion, but I'm not sure how well it works. I'll come back to you when I figure this out.
I do need something which fits those. But not through a sample library, but in a format native to the soundchip itself, either emulated or real. For example, .nsf, .sid or .vgm format :)

What I am looking for specifically, is a Sega Genesis soundtrack that places the SN76489 in a lead role rather than the YM2612 ^^

"Modern 8-bit", or "Hybrid-chiptune" ^^
However I am looking for a composer who has actual mastery of the various sound chips. Do you?
I know. Even though the only one of them I'm familiar with is Andy Black.
But you still need their permission.
Do you even have the rights to use these characters within your game?
Your "8-bit music showreel" does not actually sound very 8-bit? It uses many samples, reverb and other things ...
But still if you have like an old track or something I can hear, I'm very curious to check out your style :)
Thanks! I don't really know about the modern twist thing for the game I'm making right now. I actually like the very retro thing. :P
Waw would also be ok, though vgm is preferred. But of course, only if you want to do it ^^
