Mojotron: Robot Wars failed on kickstarter but that has not stopped my work. You can purchase copies of Mojotron: Robot Wars at dulsi.itch.io. All profits go to continueing my efforts to restore old open source games. This work includes making the game buildable again and adding new features. For Mojotron: Robot Wars, I ported it to SDL2 and create a new look for the game.
Alchemy Quest is available for purchase from dulsi.itch.io. You can download it for free if you want from identicalsoftware.com. Purchases are used to help fund my work of restoring old open source games to keep them playable and add new features.
Lots of work has gone into the project. We have switched from ClanLib to SDL2 and some additional libraries. It should be relatively easy to compile on Linux. Fedora can use the cross-compiler to build a Windows version. A quick 2 player mode was thrown in but it still needs a lot of polish.
Assuming you are trying to merge images as mentioned in the subject, Linux has convert as part of ImageMagick. I recently used it to generate the sprite sheets for Troll Bridge that I posted here. I created a small script I can use to combines the images in the game into a file.
I haven't joined the jam yet either. I've been procrastinating on starting a new project. I did manage to do an update for Troll Bridge and added the artwork to this site. Enormous Mutant Badgers sounds like a win to me.

I need a smaller number of colors to use the sprite in Mari0. I haven't converted the big sprite yet.
Alchemy Quest now exists.

@Spring: There are always problems. Don't let them get you down. I'm still hoping to get something available.
