I went to the BostonFIG talks. The talks I went to were very interesting. One was on retrogames and mentioned the demake jam. Demaking is taking a game and remaking it in the style of an earlier system. I like the idea but I can't think of any games I'd like to demake. I've been playing 7 days to die but I don't know of a satisfactory to demake that game. I was think maybe Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. I probably won't try doing it at the moment as I don't have time.
Over on the discussion thread for the new OGA layout, chasersgaming made the point that we ought to rotate responsibility for running Art Challenges on OGA.
He suggested a 'Winner's Out' approach, where whomever wins the challenge picks a topic and runs the next one.
I'm not sure that would work for everyone, sometimes the winner may not be able or interested in running the next challenge.
However, I have an idea for an alternate approach that might work:
I am currently studying game design and would be very happy about a little help. I am writing a paper about Pixel Art / Pixel Graifk for my Art History course and I still need some more Artist as examples and reference. However, there is a restriction. Those artist should do Pixel Art (mostly) outside of video games and perferably have done some form of art exhibition. Have you any favorite artist going in this direction?
I felt like I have to make a small remark about my personal life as a game developer,, I hope you don't mind, and I would also like to hear what other people do in the same situation UwU and let me know if you think this is abusing the forums for a personal subject too, even though it is related to game development as well.
So, I'm starting to finally get to a point where my art, music, and coding skills althogether are getting good enough to produce somewhat decent stuff, at least semi-consistently.
Is there a way to know why artwork was removed? I found an image last year I wanted to use. I stored the link but it doesn't work anymore. I can find it on the wayback machine and it was on the site for a long time. I can share the link if that helps. I don't need to use it but I'm disappointed I don't know why it was removed.
I'm looking forward to see some JIROU, Roman Rescue Run Pompeii, Out of depth, Fallen Werewolf, Gnuton's Law, Haydenwoffle, Adventures of Yulpers, Deymoun, (...) arcade machines !
