I am making a close-sourced commercial indie game. I have a few questions about asset licenses, after having read quite a lot on the matter (including the FAQ).
I understand that both CC-BY-SA and GPL licenses are problematic to use in a close-sourced commercial game, because it is unclear whether the sharealike clause applies only to the art piece being used, or to the whole project, even though there is a legal separation between the source code and the art.
In my country we call this "Estabilizador de tensión" witch translate means "tension stabilizer" or "voltage stabilizer" but if i google it in english with those words i found a different device.
WARNING ITS HD 1920X1080 RECOMENDED BUT ITS 1600X900 WINDOW
THIS APP IS HOMEGROWN, NO MAIN STREAM ART PROCESSES, YOU ARE GETTING AN UNEQUE APP, AND ITS FREE. i CALL IT TECHNO MAGE BECAUSE ITS USING TECHNOLOGY TO MAKE YOU INTO A TOP NOTCH ARTIST
So for fun I've been browsing video game media on Wikimedia Commons -- WMC only allows free works to be uploaded and is pretty strict and serious about verifying their free status. And I am finding some real juicy stuff. For example this trailer for a Warner Bros game has been released under CC-BY-SA:
I've been recently mixing some tracks many of which have Creative commons license. I wonder if someone could find them useful and if it is possible to share them here as long as the license is Creative commonds. I would ask the authors anyway but first I would like to know if the license allows that.
I was sort of aggrevated to find out that the 4 dozen+ files and packs I downloaded to gather items to work with on my project ... included the same filename for different static meshes.
diffuse.tga
normal.tga
specular.tga
... all of which were skipped/overwritten/ duplicate-numbered...
(6+hours I now have to painstakingly redo to find out which ones I need to rename/match-up/reload so I dont have unusable item blobs with no textures).
Hi, using assets from OGA in your games is for amateurs, I want to go further and fill my game with OGA users too. And it won't be just random choices for no reason, instead every user will have a role which is somehow related to their position or contribution or their asset(s) used in my game. For example creator of weapon 3d meshes will be a blacksmith, while music creator is a bard obviously.
Ive opened this thread here to discuss things NFT.(non fungible Tokens)
Ive been looking into the space for quite some time and watched it's progression with interest. Since their inception, NFT's have been met with mixed reactions from many creators. Some for the idea of Nft's, some against, for a number of reasons, all be it personal, practical or both. Id like to discuss those reasons here, and see what creators think what sort of effect it will have/has had on themselves, positive or negative.
