Hey, awesome stuff!  I love the custom ships you made--you did a great job of putting those bits together in new and unique ways without making it look pieced together. And the effects are great too!

Here's a quick edit of the fang to add a bit of shading to the custom wings, if you'd like it: Fang with wing shading

Just a technical note: I don't think that CC-By derived assets can be released under CC-0.  I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that they can only be re-released under a license that similarly requires credit.

@Mumu: awesome stuff!  I really appreciate your taking the time to make these additions.  As Julius said it would be awesome to make a seperate entry for those effects.  It would be a great first step towards getting a viable art collection together for this series.

When you say "looking to build their portfolio" and "commission based on sales," I assume that you mean that the position is otherwise unpaid?  If it is paid, you should know that those are warning bells for artists and sound rather like "lots of work which is unlikely to pay off."  If it's unpaid, well, you'll probably need to do more to convince people that you're serious and worth spending unpaid time on.

This would definitely be good.  To some extent this will probably be covered by art collections when the feature is finished (presumably one could make a collection of 16x16 tiles, 32x32 tiles, etc).  Currently, most of them will turn up in a search for "16" or "32" but it's hard to know which ones won't because... well, they won't.

Hehe, that was definitely not a use for that RPG base that I foresaw.  I'm glad that you found a use for it!

@quadraxas: this will probably be covered by what is my most-anticipated OGA 2.0 feature: art collections.  This will allow for much better sorting.

You're right, the question of what counts as "commercial use" is particularly thorny and ill defined.  It raises a number of unfortunate and hard to resolve issues.  That's why no non-commercia licenses are allowed on OGA.  That's right!  All assets on OGA are allowed for commercial use!  As long as you respect the individual licenses you're good to go, and none of them will tell you you can't use it commercially.

I mean, I'm not about to discourage you from donating to OGA, but there you have it.

What makes you think that that game is open source?  I looked through their site and it doesn't seem to say anything about open source or any open license.

Yeah, I know what you mean.  There are the characters made for Ultimate Smash Friends, which are certainly in the size range, but they may not be "general purpose" enough, in design for animations; of them, Surge is probably the closest.  I suppose that one of them could possibly be adapted to it if nothing else.
