Hello guys, I want to copy a part of an image (A tail) from an art animation of some game this is the animation the naimation is in the attachments what I want is to copy the tail from the first 4 frames (Exactly as it is) and change it's colors and use it with another independent image of mine what do you guys think about that and if I can't use it how can I change it to make it mine like change 1 pixel? 5 pixels change?
I've been adapting some of the sprites and tiles I've found into the style of my game project, and some of them are SA, so how should I go about posting them? Should I make my own submission here and list them as a collaborator or post the image in the comment section of the original and hope they add it to theirs?
Hello. While I have known OpenGameArt for a while, I just recently (finally) decided to sign up, so I'm sort of a newbie here and please forgive me if this is the wrong forum to ask this.
So as some of you know, I compose a lot of original tunes here for OGA. While I love the community here I also produce remixes of game songs and other themes which cannot be uploaded here due to the policies of the site.
Therefore I'm looking for a site to upload these onto. But with a catch. I've already tried using both YouTube and SoundCloud, but it really stresses me out that both of these platforms are so fiercely competetive. c64Remix and AmigaRemix are also only about ratings and which song is better than the other. That's really not what I'm looking for.
I've seen some sprites released under GPL, but to my understanding, GPL is a software license, so how does it apply to a sprite? Does that mean what software it can be used in? Can it only be used in open source software? What about for animations or comics?
I would like to make a 3d game that can be exported as a .swf or html5 file. The websites I would like to export my game file only accept those kinds of uploads. Does anyone know of 100% game creating engines out there I can use? Please try to avoid pay-make game creators and game creators that I can upload to thier site. I am looking for completely free ones. Thank you for your time. :D
Sorry to post about license stuff again, but every now and then something pops up that leaves me questioning it again.
assets uploaded to other marketplaces usually have you agree to some sort of agreement. I had an issue with the gamemaker EULA agreement sometime ago which caused some confusion for me, which I figured out thanks to the help from you guys here. So I'm here asking for some clarity again.
SO I have trouble deciding upon an art style for that accursed pony game, I think everything looks ugly and yadda yadda yadda....
Do you have any opinion on which of these 2 styles is better, a sort of hand-drawn style, or a pixel art style with no hard outlines? Feedback is very much appreciated ^-^
The game runs at a screen resolution of 960x540 and uses ponypalette.png as the color palette for the main character, but I have an idea that it may be used for the entire game.
I am currently developing a game and was trying to figure out art style and I am getting really confused. I am not a designer but a developer and going to be using some designers to help.
I was looking at some of the paid tile art and was going to use them sparingly and keep to a certain style but I was told my characters don't line up with the style of art. Attached is a copy of the tile art and a copy of one of my characters. Can anyone explain why they dont match, and what I would need to do to make them match?
