@Rawdanitsu: Fun! At first I had some trouble because the quest screen button doesn't show up until I purchased a weapon, and the weapon doesn't show up in the shop until I had more than 100 gp saved up. Since the only thing that showed up in the shop at first was 1 gem for 20 gp, I kept buying gems one at a time thinking that might open up some options. However, once I got past that part, it all came together. At first I thought the blacksmith prices were a bit steep, but then the economist in me came out and I had a blast with it. I'm on the Hell tunnels now and I can't wait to see what happens next. Nice job!
I know you guys have pretty much said all this above, but I wanted to share my personal experience with these resources.
I was also curious about licensing surrounding RPG maker resources, and the license wording seemed to indicate I could obtain permission to use them if I purchased some separate license. Here is the conversation I had with Enterbrain's licensing department:
こんにちは、 RPG Maker ソフトに対して質問があります。 www.rpgmakerweb.com のサポートに聞いてみましたが、Enterbrain, Inc. 聞くように言われました。
ライセンスによると "Licensee shall not reverse engineer, de-compile, or disassemble the RTP SOFTWARE. Further, Licensee shall not sell, distribute, assign, lease, sublicense, encumber, or otherwise transfer the RTP SOFTWARE and/or its data without any prior written consent of ENTERBRAIN." 「ユーザーは、本ソフトウェアをリバースエンジニア、逆コンパイル、逆アセンブルすることはできません RTPは株式会社エンターブレインの文書による許諾なく、データの複製や、営利、非営利を問わず2次配布を禁止します」
Hello, My question is in regards to RPG Maker software, but I am being told by the people at www.rpgmakerweb.com that I need to discuss my request directly with Enterbrain, Inc.
I would like to purchase RPG Maker but I would also like to use other, 3rd party, software as well to help me enhance the games I am making. I am told if I use 3rd party software with RPG Maker that I am not allowed to use the graphics, sound, or other media that comes with RPG Maker. Is this true?
I am willing to buy a license for RPG Maker. I am even willing to buy several licenses because the media and software is ideal for my needs. The license for RPG Maker states the following:
"Licensee shall not reverse engineer, de-compile, or disassemble the RTP SOFTWARE. Further, Licensee shall not sell, distribute, assign, lease, sublicense, encumber, or otherwise transfer the RTP SOFTWARE and/or its data without any prior written consent of ENTERBRAIN."
Is there some way I can obtain written consent from Enterbrain for the use of the media in this way? I am willing to pay for the use of the media and I am willing to comply with any conditions or restrictions you may have. I do not wish to reverse engineer, de-compile, or disassemble the RTP software.
Enterbrain customer support. Thank you for your letter. RPG Maker and other related graphics, data, and music can only be used on RPG Maker to make games. Thank you for your interest. We hope you will continue to enjoy and use RPG Maker
Another way to say the middle part:
... RPG Maker graphics, data, and music can not be used for anything other than making games on RPG Maker. ...
So Enterbrain says any resources, or derivatives of the resources, contained within the RTP package absolutely cannot be used outside of RPG Maker. Hope that helps.
PS: Like Curt, Sharm, and Bart, I've found that the community surrounding RPG maker, the guys that offer "free" non-RTP resources to go with RPG Maker (any version), tend to have absolutely no concept of licensing. 95% of the stuff they give out is modified from the RTP package (and therefore subject to the RTP license), or ripped from some other game or artist without permission (and therefore copyright infringement).
If an RPG Maker community artist can give you a 100% guarantee that they made the resources from scratch and own every part of them and grant you permission to use it, fine. that stuff is not subject to Enterbrain's license... If you can't get that level of surity, stay the heck away from it is my advice.
Nah, not bad. Just wanted to know if there was an offset or padding before I start chopping it up into a normalized sprite sheet since i'm not using floating point positioning. :)

heheheh! Cool. fixed.
BWAHAHAHAH! Yup! This is my new mug.
+1 to that: Props to OGA for being such a supportive community.

Nice! ...So the Question mark, Exclamation point, and star-thingy (4th row of 2nd preview) are not available, then?
Is there a link to C. Nilsson's original tree submission? The only thing I see submitted by C. Nilsson is some hearts: http://opengameart.org/content/simple-small-pixel-hearts
"Animation"?

...So does that mean Paul has it right? 85.333... x 85.333... pixel frames?
Why does the commercial pack on the linked website have opengameart.org's logo on it?
