cool! another jam, and coll that a 'Spring' jam by hosted by 'Spring' :)

loving the Sara banner!

some good advice fom @withthelove, its not to teduis to host, itch ,makes it pretty straight forward. what is tedious is checking every entry at the end of the submission period, that all have the right credits and ahered to the rules etc. there will be some 'iffy entrys', which is a given, your have to sort of investigate thoses and make a decision on them, whether to disqualify/take out or not. You will need to make yourself available aswell to incoming questions, which i have no doubt you will get. im hoping to have community pages better set up later this year. (most ask questions or whatever), so if you can do that, that may help you and other participants.

Good luck Spring, look forward to it!.

oh, in order for your itch preview page to show via the link you will need to 'publish' the page, but publish it as 'Unpublished', that way your link will work but wont show up on any results in any itch p[ages. :)

in terns of 'Sub catagories' the 'Tab' system is the best and only way to get the best search results, but as we have all mentioned or reconised that its very dependant on what is uploaded and tagged by the uploader to whether or not it is what the downloader is expecting or looking for, we need to find a better way of matching them up. perhaps tags that are searched for could also bring up other music that are not tagged with the same tag , but bring them more towards the end of a search result.

i dunno something like:

here are the results based on your search criteria. ("Peaceful")

 1,2,3,4, etc

here are some suggested results based on your search criteria ("gentle, soft, tranquil")

1,2,3,4,5, etc

peaceful tag is also linked to gentle tag, although the submitter hasnt actually used it as a tag.

the only other way that is generally the way, it to write as many tags as ytou can think of in hope someone will find your track. :)

its just a idea, maybe something like this could be done for OGA 3.

@spring that would be cool, what do you use?, id love to have a go myself too. :)

I agree with medicine storm, there is plenty of action, title screen, character select, so the more calming, subtle tracks there are would be good. I think sub categorie searches don't help, not here though, just everywhere, there are so many of these it's hard to know what sort of catagory to place your music in to decide what best theme it suits, or depicts. 'Gentle' 'soft' 'tranquil' and 'peaceful' that's just a couple as an example, not everyone would use these of coarse, but I think that's the point I'm making.:) it's just as hard when searching for it too. You could say the same for most art assets but I would say it was more hit then miss, and more miss then hit with music searches.

anyways, I would like to see more 16bit music, megadrive snes themed music. :)

Sounds like fun, you say the game will be similar to dead cells, but you haven't mentioned what sort of art style your looking for, vector, pixel art, low poly etc, or you want it the same as dead cell visuals, this would really help if this was mentioned so the artists know whether they can help or not.:) good luck with your project.:)

There are a few i like, partially chemical plant zone from sonic 2, however, my all time favourite music sound tracks has to be streets of rage 1&2. Yuzo koshiro made some great tracks for those games they still hold up even to today's standard.:)

Well I would say yes, although, like you say they have already been started, but the idea of picking something up you haven't touched for so long and bring it back to life through a game jam is the incentive to do it, otherwise old projects would just gather dust as there is no reason to even think about them.:)

the jam can start when you want it to, the notion of letting people know early is so they have the time to search OGA for potential works for there game, find sets and what not, you did say that your happy to entertain ideas aswell, not just physical half started games, so the time  could be of some benefit, as it can take  quite a bit of time searching OGA. But ultimately it's up to you how you run it matey, if you feel it's not neccessary then go with what works best for you.:)

A little confused buddy, so are the rules: use only OGA assets, or use 6 OGA assets?

Or running both alongside, Like Ludlum has has the jam and compo?

That does seem very restrictive criteria, one that doesn't appeal to myself, i could crack on again with Never a Doll day, which uses OGA assets, but somework is inspired by OGA assets and the idea of having to rework some, and add some, and release them, (although i would love to do it), alone creates a massive impact on workload. But I completely understand your drive for the OGA community and its users, and that it creates a 'Special'' connection.

Feel free to run this in the summer if you want, don't feel your treading on my toes, im all good about it. :)
